Welcome to the
Bridgewater Youth Basketball Association Homepage. For those
planning on joining our program for the first time we would like to
provide you with an overview of the various programs offered by the
BYBA. For those returning, perhaps this will serve as a refresher.
It
is the clear intention of those involved with the day-to-day running
of this very successful program to provide all children with a solid
foundation of skills, confidence and love for the game of basketball
and the joy of being part of a TEAM.
The
programs offered by then BYBA are as follows:
Boys
Biddy
The Biddy Program is
open to every player registered regardless of skill level. This
program is the foundation of the entire boy’s program. Because
players develop physically, socially, and emotionally at different
rates, a child has the opportunity to play and develop skills and
confidence against other player with like competencies. Teams are
selected via draft with the intent of developing equal competition
through all levels. This program begins the first week of December
and concludes in March.
Patriot
Travel Team
The Patriot Travel
League is operated independent of the BYBA. The BYBA does however
field teams at all levels that participate in this program. Players
are selected for these teams after a two-day tryout in October. This
is an extremely competitive program designed for those children
interested in a higher level of competition. The program runs from
November-March including playoffs. Teams practice weekly with games
on Saturday/Sunday. There is an additional fee for participating in
this program.
**It is important
to know that only 12 players per team are selected for this level.
With many kids trying out it is a very difficult task selecting only
12. The coaches do the best job they can. Bare in mind, everyone
involved is a volunteer.
Suburban
West Travel Team
This travel program
was developed in 2001 for the purpose of providing more boys an
opportunity to tryout and participate in a program that is more
competitive than the Biddy League, but not at the level of the
Patriot Program.
This program is open to all boys who are not participating on a
Patriot Travel team, and follows the same guidelines in regards to
tryouts, selection, age levels, etc. Teams are selected at the
conclusion of the October tryouts.
**It is important to know that up to 12 players per team are
selected for this level. With many kids trying out it is a very
difficult task selecting only 12. The coaches do the best job they
can. Bare in mind, everyone involved is a volunteer.
Girls
Recreation League
The Recreation Program
is open to every player registered regardless of skill level. This
program is the foundation of the entire girl’s program. Because
players develop physically, socially, and emotionally at different
rates, a child has the opportunity to play and develop skills and
confidence against other player with like competencies. Teams are
put together by league officials with the intent of developing equal
competition through all levels. This program begins the first week
of December and concludes in March.
Suburban
Travel League
The Suburban Travel
League is operated independent of the BYBA. The BYBA does however
field teams at all levels that participate in this program. Players

Old Colony
League
This
travel program was developed for the purpose of providing more girls
an opportunity to tryout and participate in a program that is more
competitive than the Recreation League, but not at the level of the
Suburban Program.
This
program is open to all girls who are not participating on a Suburban
Travel team, and follows the same guidelines in regards to tryouts,
selection, age levels, etc. Teams are selected at the conclusion of
the October tryouts.
